Saving Valuable Time by Phasing Purlin and Rail Requirements on Larger Projects
Following a meeting with a valuable customer, I recommended them to phase their larger projects when using Albion Sections. The advantage is achieved through Albion's marking system and effective cam data creation generated by Strucad and Tekla Structures.
Our customer went out of their way to complement Albion Sections due to the time and money saved on site. This value added processes came with with no additional effort or cost implications.
We not only marked the lip of our products with the piece mark generated, but also gave the phase name, for example 'roof'. The building's Purlin and Rail requirements were being split into roof, sides and gables, previously customers have split phases by grid lines rather than elevations.
Based on the feedback received from the erection teams, time was saved by knowing the position of each pack without having to split the bundle or reference the mark number back to a general arrangement drawing.
If the phases are split using cam data and is issued to Albion Sections in cam data format, no additional time is taken through our administration process. This also vastly reduces potential human error; issuing incorrect quantities to phases.
Our customer found great value to the markings being applied to the lip of the product. Firstly, the components were easy to search through on site, and secondly, once erected the mark numbers cannot be seen from the floor level, hence pleasing the end client.
