Reflecting on 2009 and Looking Forward to 2010
The past 12 months have been one of sombre feeling for most. The recession has brought unpredictable and challenging conditions with many organisations suffering with low margins, redundancies, major cut backs and in the worst case scenario - closure.
Whilst I believe it is important to be realistic and face up to what the economic downturn has brought, it is also important to look back and see how over the past year, as organisations, we have reacted, developed and improved.
Here at Albion Sections, while the sector is predictably down, we have changed working methods in ways we probably wouldn't have if there had not been a downturn - we will come out of the recession a better and stronger company. Our minds are focused on lean manufacturing, removing waste and inefficiencies.
We have proven to ourselves and customers that we can respond to their changing needs and truly be competitive. Where we have been faced with challenges, we have adapted and responded quickly.
Much focus has been placed on providing a smooth ordering process - from initial design through to delivery on site. Our consistent ambition for efficiency has resulted in our customers reacting better to their own customer's needs.
Alongside this, we have been proactive in maintaining our product research and development promise. This year has seen the successful release of the Albion Sigma Purlin and after many months of hard work, January 2010 will see the re-release of our Zed Purlins and Cee Section range geared around a significantly improved strength to weight ratio.
We have also focused on coaching and training to achieve the best out of our existing team. Ensuring all have an understanding of what is important to provide Albion Sections with the best opportunity to weather the current trading conditions.
Whilst conditions remain tight and confidence subdued, we continue to be patient and like many other companies wait for the economy to get back on its feet. However, while the recession persists, we too persist and make the best out less than ideal situation.
Wishing you a merry Christmas and a prosperous 2010.
